• Messages – The content of messages you send, which are stored temporarily (up to 500 most recent messages per room) and are visible to all participants in that room.
• Unique User ID – A randomly generated identifier stored in your browser’s local storage to remember your name and avatar across sessions.
• Technical Data – Standard server logs may include your browser type and timestamps when you connect. These logs are retained only for performance analysis and improvement, typically for no more than 30 days.
• Notification Permission – If you enable push notifications, your browser’s subscription token is stored solely to deliver message alerts. This token is not linked to any other personal data.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide real-time chat functionality and file sharing.
• To maintain a consistent identity for you within the Service.
• To improve performance, troubleshoot issues, and prevent abuse.
• To send you push notifications if you have opted in.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

• Messages: Stored only in memory; the last 500 messages per room are kept. Older messages are permanently deleted automatically.
• User ID: Stored locally on your device. You can clear it by deleting your browser’s local storage for this site.
• Server logs: Retained up to 30 days for security and diagnostics.

5. Third-Party Services

Whisper may use third-party hosting and infrastructure providers (e.g., the server hosting the application). Those providers may have access to data as necessary to operate the Service, but they are contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality. We do not integrate external analytics or tracking scripts.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your data (note: we do not store identifiable personal data).
• Withdraw consent for push notifications (via your browser settings).
• Request information about how we process your data.

The Service is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the Service, please contact us so we can remove any related data.
